The Question Of God

Thomas's picture

This was originally intended to be a discussion between Khomar and I about the existence of the the person known as Jesus. I had suspicions that Jesus never existed many years ago and after reading by Joseph Atwill confirmed that for me.

I believe now Jesus was an archetype created by the ruling Romans.

I would rather that this be just a general discussion that we have fun with on our each individual views and thoughts on god. After all I think this is the greatest Cecil B. DeMille play there is,on a grand scale we are smack dab in the middle of it. (no offense Khomar but I'd rather talk about the source).

So Khomar, I have a question for you, what are your thoughts on hell and eternal punishment or total obliteration of a human soul?

Anyone else jump on in....

I don't know why you're posting the "Question of God" thread.

I'm right here.

You can have their souls

Hell and the Soul

The Bible says that we were created in the image of God. I take this to mean that we are all eternal beings -- meaning that our soul will never die. So I do not believe in the concept of a total obliteration of the soul.

Revelations talks about this in detail:

and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
(Rev 20:10-15 ESV)

The first important point is that the devil, or Satan, is not the master of hell. He is the chief inmate. Hell is his eternal prison cell.

Second, it would appear that there are in essence two (three?) hells: Death and Hades, where people go immediately after they die, and then the lake of fire which is the final prison. I am not really sure if there is a difference between Death and Hades or if by their usage together, they are really referring to different aspects of the same place.

There are indications that there will be different levels of suffering:

But I tell you that it will be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you."
(Mat 11:24 ESV)

I am not sure what the exact nature of hell will be, but it is pretty clear that it will not be pleasant. I also believe that I cannot judge who will or will not be there. God alone is the judge for He alone knows whose names are written in the Book of Life. I believe that the Bible presents the way to know God and to be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and therefore be written in the Book of Life, and it is that message that I try to share.

I believe that there is heaven and hell, and I believe that Satan is very real and active in the world to try to subvert and destroy mankind. This is why I have no problem believing many of the vast conspiracy theories. Satan is the force behind the Illuminati, the Central Bankers, and the New World Order.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
(Eph 6:11-12 ESV)

With that in mind, you can look throughout history and see this battle waging through the centuries -- the forces of Satan trying to control, corrupt and destroy, and the forces of God offering a way of peace, freedom, and salvation to a lost and hurting world. Right now, Satan has dominion over this world as God has allowed, but someday that will come to an end.

Caesar's Messiah

I wanted to take a quick moment to jot down some thoughts regarding this book. I will move onto the other topics you brought up next.

Unfortunately, I have not yet had the opportunity to read it. I have not had the opportunity to read much of anything for a while, but I still hope to read it soon. But one thing strikes me: he assumes that Josephus' writing is entirely accurate while the gospels are a fraud. Would it not be easier to assume the opposite?

Consider that the writer of the gospels would require an incredible amount of understanding of Jewish culture as well as the Hebrew scriptures. The detail in the prophecy fulfillment alone would have required an incredible imagination and a great deal of time to construct. Further, the message presented in the gospels was very much against the current thinking of the Jews at the time who wanted war against Rome. Even more, it was completely alien to the Romans who believed that control of the masses was best gained by use of force. To write four separate books with their own unique tones and emphasis while presenting a consistent message that not only worked together but created a framework of life that is still alive and well today would be an amazing feat of writing -- especially if they are to echo at the same time a Roman history. It should also be remembered that while the Romans attempted to emulate the Greeks whose wisdom they admired, they were not intellectual themselves. They incorporated the Greek mythologies into their own rather crudely and with obvious plagiarism showing that in general, they lacked imagination.

Now look at it from Josephus' point of view. He was employed by the Roman government to write the history of the Romans and the Jews. A Messiah figure has arisen in Judea and inflamed the masses in a strange, uncontrollable revolt. They cannot use force in their usual way because these Christians do not fight back, and they do not look to serve the Roman empire but some "kingdom of God". The Jewish leadership is greatly disturbed by this movement as well because it is undermining their authority. Jesus had demonstrated how their complex structure of laws and traditions were not in agreement with their scriptures (the Old Testament). It would make sense then for the Romans and Jewish leadership to try to cover up the movement in the best way they could: by subverting the message and making it appear to be Roman in origin. Josephus would write the books that would try to paint the picture that the Romans had created the story.

The asserted motive by this book that the Romans wanted to limit bloodshed simply does not make sense. The Romans thrived on violence and blood. They were well known for their cruelty and force and would crucify people by the hundreds simply to line the streets with bodies to honor the visiting Caesar. They had no qualms about killing people and did so on a regular basis.

The idea that the Romans tried to undermine the effort after the fact makes much more sense to me. They certain would have had the motive -- this new sect was disturbingly strange, and there were hundreds of eyewitnesses that would testify to having seen the resurrected Jesus as well as eyewitnesses like John who could testify that Jesus was in fact dead on the cross:

But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water.
(Joh 19:33-34 ESV)

As I said, I have not yet read the book, so perhaps he addressed these issues. It just seems like an awful lot of work and imagination to have crafted the New Testament to try to control a backward people in an obscure corner of the Roman empire. Only a devout Jew employed by Rome like Josephus would have had a strong enough motive to see the new religious sect be discredited.

see-thru's picture

my version will actually be short.

jesus was sent here to thwart jehovah's plan to rule the world. the project sorta worked.

ramtha and 12 of his ascended master friends ...
combined their genetics to make a child. mary was impregnated in vitro. hence the virgin birth.

mary had twins. jesus and thomas.

jesus successfully completed all the temples in egypt mystery school and later went on to pass his last initiation: crucifixion. because he mastered his last three attitudes on the cross he was able to raise his body from the dead and accomplished christhood.

jesus was so rockin' at going through the temples because of his genetics.

yes genetics matter.

you change your genetics with your mind.

your soul records the new data.

you program your soul onto the dna of the baby you are incarnating into. so we are literally wearing our genes. :)

thomas didn't ascend or achieve christhood...though he was a great initiate in the mystery schools.

thomas is actually reincarnated and alive right now and he's in school.

there is also one student in school who is a descendent of the children of mary and jesus.

and yes they are both under the protection of the ram as are several other people.

god? who's god? you and i. we all are. we're all the mysterious, incredible observer referred to as god. we all create our reality through our consciousness and energy.

who created all this? the void.

there is no one to save us. jesus didn't die for our sins. we are all on our own to make known the unknown.

there is no sin. there is 'missing the mark' though. so just try again. if you get knocked down... pick yourself up and go at it again.

there is no hell or satan.

hell only exists in your mind.

satan was made up by some sick religious dudes who wanted to control people through fear.

the soul is the great recorder of our journey. it only records new experiences. it weighs 13 ounces and sits to the right of the heart.

jesus wasn't sent to save us individually. he was sent to show us that we could all master our attitudes at each seal and become christs too.

that didn't work out so well.

the book 'nine faces of christ' is a pretty accurate description of his journey according to ramtha.

how's that for a wild and outrageous story? all true.

krmaya's picture

I did and I found it a fascinating hypothesis.

Thomas's picture

I Don't Know About It Being A Hypothesis At This Point...

even christian scholars are agreeing with it's conclusion...

krmaya's picture

Alright I just don't 100% "believe" anything about Jesus. I weigh things out and enjoy chewing on the information. Thus the use of the word hypothesis.

Thomas's picture

Really krmaya...

when did you read it? I've only met a handful of people that have actually read it.

krmaya's picture

You put the link up at LLF a few months ago.Joseph Atwill right?

Thomas's picture

Correct...

did you read the whole book or just a synopsis?
The cool thing about this is that god is still god so to me it's irrelevant at this point.

krmaya's picture

I don't know which it was. It seems to me it could have been the book. It was many pages long.

Thomas's picture

It's A Long Read But Well Worth It...

337 pages. So are you doing any wheatgrass yet?

krmaya's picture

Not lately I need to grow some more. I am juicing and making both milk and water kefir with probiotic kefir grains. Pretty amazing stuff.

krmaya's picture

Yes that's my next endeavor I have a scoby in the fridge. I'm just overwhelmed now that I work full time.

see-thru's picture

nope.

.

Khomar's picture

Hmm... it is way too late to talk about such a deep subject now, but I will get back to you.

In the meantime (and perhaps this is because of my tired state), I am not sure what you mean by your statement "no offense Khomar but I'd rather talk about the source". What is the "source" to which you are referring?

Thomas's picture

Khomar...

we were originally going to talk about Caesars Messiah and I'd rather talk just about god if thats ok with you, it's simpler to me. And the source is god, Yahweh, the father, creative energy,or higher power if you will. Many names, same substance.
