![]() This is a fantastic video that summarizes a lot of what is going on. I feel the need to construct my own response video with some of my own research that backs up a lot of what he says and may point him in a new direction. In the meantime, take a look and tell me what you think: |

![]() This is a fantastic rap song about Austrian and Keynesian economics. In Fear the Boom and Bust, John Maynard Keynes and F. A. Hayek, two of the great economists of the 20th century, come back to life to attend an economics conference on the economic crisis. Before the conference begins, and at the insistence of Lord Keynes, they go out for a night on the town and sing about why there's a "boom and bust" cycle in modern economies and good reason to fear it. |

![]() In honor of Martin Luther King Day, here is the complete speech given on August 28, 1963. So much of what he said then applies to our world and our problems today and our fight for liberty and justice. |

![]() I heard on the radio this morning, sandwiched between soundbites of ~buy gold~ and ~the economy is better~, the news that America died. I pulled my Chevy truck off the road so that I could pay attention to the details, but it seemed none were forthcoming. I tried changing stations to get this important news, but all they seemed to be covering was the death of a 50 year-old pop icon. Fine, I thought to myself. I'll get to work and just ask... this is big! My fellow debt-slaves were walking around the office in a pre-caffiene stupor when I entered. They seemed dejected, the morning a different shade of grey. They knew something was wrong. Asking around garnered me no information on the death of America, however. It was overshadowed by the death of an entertainer. Well, there is always the internet! |

![]() Recent events have led me to believe that I have come to a realization but to be sure I am not going to include my opinion even though I think I made it clear what my opinion is. Are we, collectively, participating in a movement or are we a part of a broader message? It appears that the liberty movement has come to butt heads with the message of freedom. An odd place for an impasse if you ask me but this is what I am starting to glean. Lets say that all of the people who come to certain forums and start trouble really aren't paid to do so that they simply want to be a part of a popular movement whose idea resonates with them because it's a movement that is supposed to free us from the chains of government-imposed involuntary servitude. |

![]() The subject of selfishness was discussed briefly in another thread and was promoted in this week's "Freedom Watch" (you can see the relevant section here) in which Yaron Brook defended Ayn Rand's belief that selfishness was a good thing. His basic point was that we should all think rationally about how we can be happy, successful and prosperous, and if we as a society were to do so, we would be a happier society. While sounding good on the surface, this worldview has some serious flaws. Upon first viewing, I immediately took issue with this line of reasoning because it contradicts the teachings of the Bible which promotes humility and servant leadership. I have found that when I stop and think about something carefully, the wisdom put forth by the Bible continues to ring true. |
